Your X activity → private Lists for pro.x.com

Connect X, set simple dials, and get starter Lists from bookmarks, likes, follows, replies, and people you DMed (outbound only). You approve before anything is created. Then pin those Lists as columns in Pro.

User flow

Four steps

  1. Connect Sign in with X for a short session (~60 min). We never post as you. Tokens are wiped after lists are created (or when you disconnect).
  2. Dials Choose how much each signal counts. Zero a dial to ignore it. Presets: Balanced, Saves, Conversations, Follows, DMs.
  3. Lists Review the proposed private Lists (who’s in each and why). Edit names if you want, then create on your account.
  4. Pro Open pro.x.com → new deck → Add column → Lists → pick each list. (Third-party apps can’t create Pro decks via API.)

Path A · default

Free host pool

We pay the X API for a limited number of builds per day.

  • Unlocks at a random time each UTC day (not always midnight)
  • Steady state: 10 builds/day on this host
  • Promo days may raise the cap (see the live pill above)
  • Best for trying once or a few times
Connect with host app

Path B · ongoing

Your X developer app

Same site — X bills your developer project. No self-hosting required.

  • Create an app on developer.x.com
  • Callback must be exactly:
    https://xpro.howtomovetheneedle.com/api/auth/x/callback
  • Paste OAuth 2.0 Client ID + Secret in the app (not Consumer Key / Bearer)
  • Credentials encrypted here; you can remove them anytime
Open app → Bring your own X app

What we never do

Straight talk

You can skip this entirely

Create lists at x.com/i/lists, open pro.x.com, and pin columns yourself. Guideposts only helps with a first draft from signals already on your account.

Ready when you are

Free host builds when the pool is open — or bring your own X app for ongoing use.
